In-Class 15-min Blog-Writing Prompt #17b

The most interesting thing I have learned over the two days of Home-Based Learning is Maths. I learned how to create objects using the software geogebra . Even though it is quite hard to create objects using geogebra, i took a mere 10 minutes to create a object of a arrow using a picture of a arrow from google images as a reference.

HBL 25/5/11 Part 2

This poem is written as a victim of war's point of view of the view. This is supported by " America did not foresee. Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri! Expecting others to pay a high price." This means that he blames America for the death of the other people and the price that the people had to pay. The setting of the poem is in Vietnam. This is supported by "Execrable effects of agent orange spray!" Agent Orange is the code name for one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S.military as part of its herbicidal warfare program, Operation Ranch Hand, during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. Vietnam estimates 400,000 people being killed or maimed, and 500,000 children born with birth defects.
The poem is written such that it rhymes alot.
"
America did not foresee
Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri!
Expecting others to pay a high price.
Now thinking twice?"
The last word of the sentence rhymes with the last word of the next sentence.

America did something very wrong. America sprayed Agent Orange which was not tested for any side effects overly concentrated over Vietnam's crops and forests, resulting in so many deaths and so many birth defects. It is a very irresponsible act as it mainly affects the innocent, not the
guerrillas that US was after. America should not have used it even if there wasn't any side effects. By spraying those chemicals over crops, what would the farmers live on? It directly affects the innocent and only indirectly affects the guerrillas. Thus, I feel that America should have left the crops alone and should have test the chemicals before using it.

HBL 25/5/11 Part 1

The poet is a Vietnam War veteran (as are his four brothers) who served in the USAF Security Service. Him, along with a dozen or so intelligence school grads, prepped for about 14 months at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas, before anticipating being sent to Vietnamor elsewhere in southeat Asia in 1970. About half ended up in Da Nang (an Agent Orange hotspot) in the 6924th Security Squadron. The rest of them were assigned to Shemya Island, Alaska, with the 6984th Security Squadron, and what eventually was a MORE contaminated environment than Da Nang!
His health problems started approximately 15 years ago with unexplained headaches and limb pains. Four years ago his central nervous system radically deteriorated with Parkinsonian type tremors, severe headaches, progressive limb pains, etc. No physician has ever diagnosed the specific illness. NO VA physician has ever rendered ANY medical assistance! His number one educated guess is the heavily contaminated drinking water at Shemya during my year there as an intelligence analyst. Organo-phosphate toxins may not run their toxic course until 20 to 30 years after initial exposure.

Since his brain still functions moderately well (and he has mobility issues), he has turned to writing just like his late Father and the late singer (and writer) Johnny Cash.

This is what the poet felt during the time of writing the poem.

In-Class 15-min Blog-Writing Prompt #17

The decision toassassinate bin Laden rather than bringing him to trail was a justified one. There are already enough concrete evidence to show that he did commit many crimes, more than enough evidence to jail him for life or life sentence him. He is also the leader of the JI, the biggest terrorizing group that has killed many people over the years. By killing him immediately without any trail, it would give Osama no chance to escape during the trail or after the trail. For the safety of everyone, killing Osama immediately was the best choice. One example of a terrorist escaping and posing danger was Mas Selamat. He escaped from Singapore's jail to Malaysia despite high security and was planning on a mission to bomb Singapore. In conclusion, for the safety of the majority, assassinating Osama was the right thing to do.
