HBL 25/5/11 Part 2

This poem is written as a victim of war's point of view of the view. This is supported by " America did not foresee. Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri! Expecting others to pay a high price." This means that he blames America for the death of the other people and the price that the people had to pay. The setting of the poem is in Vietnam. This is supported by "Execrable effects of agent orange spray!" Agent Orange is the code name for one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S.military as part of its herbicidal warfare program, Operation Ranch Hand, during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. Vietnam estimates 400,000 people being killed or maimed, and 500,000 children born with birth defects.
The poem is written such that it rhymes alot.
"
America did not foresee
Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri!
Expecting others to pay a high price.
Now thinking twice?"
The last word of the sentence rhymes with the last word of the next sentence.

America did something very wrong. America sprayed Agent Orange which was not tested for any side effects overly concentrated over Vietnam's crops and forests, resulting in so many deaths and so many birth defects. It is a very irresponsible act as it mainly affects the innocent, not the
guerrillas that US was after. America should not have used it even if there wasn't any side effects. By spraying those chemicals over crops, what would the farmers live on? It directly affects the innocent and only indirectly affects the guerrillas. Thus, I feel that America should have left the crops alone and should have test the chemicals before using it.
